The Mount Alvernia High School Junior/Senior Prom is taking place on Wednesday, June 9th from 6-9 pm on the grounds of the Larz Anderson Auto Museum (15 Newton St, Brookline, MA 02445). The cost is $75 per person, or $150 for student and guest.

COVID-19 Guidelines

  • Mount Alvernia High School’s Junior/Senior Prom will be held following the MA Guidelines for outdoor events. The event will be limited to juniors, seniors and their guests.
  • All students and guests must have a signed permission form acknowledging understanding of rules and for contract tracing purposes.
  • Students and guests attending should not have any symptoms of COVID-19 or exposure to COVID-19 within 14 days of the Prom. It is the expectation that information related to any Covid-19 exposure and/or illness be communicated to the Mount Alvernia Wellness Center.
  • Everyone is expected to wear a mask covering their nose and mouth and to socially distance during the entirety of the event.
  • Snacks and drinks will be provided. When eating or drinking and not wearing a mask, students and guests should remain six feet apart.
  • The bathrooms of the Larz Anderson Car Museum are available during the event. There will also be additional hand sanitizer available.

Legal Statutes Regarding Alcohol and Drugs

  1. Anyone found distributing or in possession of any illicit controlled substance as defined in M.G.L. c.94C will be arrested.
  2. Anyone found to be selling or any minor found to be transporting or in possession of any alcoholic beverage as defined in M.G.L. c.138 will be arrested.
  3. Any person to be found under the influence of alcohol shall be placed in protective custody according to M.G.L. c.111B and only released to a parent or legal guardian.

Mount Alvernia High School Rules and Regulations

“Students are reminded that their behavior extends beyond the school’s boundaries and is expected to be representative of Mount Alvernia High School at all times.” (MAHS Handbook, 2020-2021, page 57)

  • The use of alcohol is not allowed at any Mount Alvernia High School event, even by guests over 21 years of age. No tobacco products in any form (cigarettes/e-cigarettes, chewing tobacco) are permitted on the premises.
  • All students and their guests are expected to check into the prom between 6:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. If a circumstance arises that hinders your on time arrival, you must call Ms. Street (number will be provided).
  • Students and their guests will remain at the prom until its conclusion at 9pm. Students and their guests will not be allowed to leave to go to their cars for any reason. A police officer will be on site to enforce this rule.
  • Should a guest be asked to leave a dance for unruly or unacceptable behavior, law enforcement personnel on site will be notified and the student will be released to the custody of parent/guardian. Disciplinary follow-up will occur by way of contacting administrators at the guest’s school.
  • Should a Mount Alvernia student engage in unruly or unacceptable behavior or violate any of the above stated rules, the law enforcement personnel on site will be notified and the student will be released to the custody of her parents. Disciplinary action will follow up to and including expulsion.
