The Mount Alvernia experience encourages the academic, personal, spiritual and social growth of each girl who walks through our hallways. Lessons at Mount Alvernia are not confined to the pages of textbooks. Our program consists of many required courses, extracurricular activities, sports and community service because we believe that students are always learning. They learn continuously in the classrooms, in the chapel, in the library, on the playing fields and through serving others.
We believe that laughter is a catalyst in learning and that a well-balanced social experience is an essential part of education. We nurture the spirit and enthusiasm of our students through many annual events. We also recognize that our students benefit from support, guidance and open communication. Our unique guidance program is designed to provide our students with the one-on-one support that they need to learn how to develop healthy relationships, make educated choices, and even choose the college that is right for them.
Kindness and civility are at the heart of life here. The first words of the prayer of St. Francis, “Lord, make me an instrument of your peace…,” are not empty ones for us. They are the foundation of the behavior we value and promote.
