Nolan, MFIC, Sr. M. Damon, of Newton, a beloved member of the Missionary Franciscan Sisters for fifty-nine years, died Saturday, June 5, 2021.

Predeceased by her parents, Walter and Mary (Fitzherbert) Nolan, brother James Nolan and brother-in-law Brad Hatch. Loved by her siblings Walter and Maureen Nolan of Dover, Mary Hatch of Marshfield, Paul and Marie Nolan, Ft. Myers, FL, Ann and Kevin Mitchell of West Roxbury. Sr. M. Damon is also survived by many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, extended family, friends and her Missionary Franciscan Sisters. She was a dedicated educator, as both a teacher in parochial schools (St. Mary of the Eternal School, Philadelphia, PA; St. Clare High School, Roslindale, MA) and as a Principal of Mount Alvernia High School in Newton, MA from 1972-1980. After transferring to Bolivia in 1980, Sr. M. Damon continued her ministry of education and became a Founder and Administrator of Unidad Academica Campesina, a school located in Carmen Pampa, Bolivia from 1995-2008.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Chapel at Mount Alvernia Convent, 790 Centre Street, Newton, MA 02458 on Friday, June 11 at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visitation will be held in the Chapel on Thursday, June 10, 4-8 PM with a Prayer Service at 6:30 PM. Masks are required for attendance at both the Visitation and the Mass. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
